Resistance to anoikis does not confer chemoresistance in SAOS cells. Suspended SAOSp and SAOSar cells were treated with 1 in vitro LD50 of etoposide, adriamycin, vinblastine, cisplatin or paclitaxel. In Panel A, similar percentages of SAOSp or SAOSar cells in the sub-G/0 phase representative of apoptotic cells was found after incubation with the indicated agents for 24 h under suspended conditions. Error bars indicate the standard deviation of three independent experiments. Panel B shows similar percentages of Annexin V-FITC positive SAOSp or SAOSar suspended cells (top and bottom right quadrants) after the same treatments. Data shown is representative of three independent experiments.
