Opposite methylation and expression patterns of MTO1 vs. MRPL41 according to estrogen receptor (ER) status in breast cancer tissues. Methylation and expression of MTO1 (A and C) and MRPL41 (B and D) were examined by real-time methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and RT-PCR, respectively, in ER(+) and ER(-) breast cancer tissues. Numbers in parentheses denote the number of examined tissues. Each sample was examined in duplicate, and the average was applied to the plot. Data for individual patients is shown in Additional file 3: Figure S1.
