From: Identification of genes inducing resistance to ionizing radiation in human rectal cancer cell lines: re-sensitization of radio-resistant rectal cancer cells through down regulating NDRG1

Fig. 1

Cellular changes in the induced radio-resistant rectal cancer cell lines based on the cell proliferation assay, colony forming assay, apoptotic assay and cell cycle analysis. Cell counting a and MTT assay b were performed in the SNU-503 and SNU-503R80Gy cell lines 96 h after irrdiation with 0 and 4 Gy. c For the colony forming assay, the number of colonies were averaged from three wells. d Cellular apoptosis was observed by western blot analysis with cleaved PARP and Caspase-3 protein levels. Cell cycle analysis was performed by FACS (e and f). The entire experiments were repeated three times. (* P < 0.05: comparison of cell proliferation between when the cell line was irradiated with 0 and 4 Gy, ** P < 0.0001: comparison of the number of colonies between the parental and the induced radio-resistant rectal cancer cell lines, # P < 0.0002: comparison of the number of colonies between when the cell line was irradiated with 0 and 4 Gy of irradiation)
